Wanted !! "Live"
"Wild & Wild Simulated"
American Ginseng Have Stratified
"Glacial Gold"
Ginseng Seeds, "Will
Trade".
Glacial Ginseng Company is very interested in acquiring
"Wild" and "Wild" simulated woods grown ginseng roots for
repropagation. This years market for the export doesn’t seem to be getting off to too strong a start.
I think a lot of this is in relationship to the Chinese economy which is currently in a little bit of a slump. There’s still roots left over from last years crop.
I know we all enjoyed being able to get out in the woods and hunt for wild ginseng. To me it’s always been the thrill of the find, more than anything.
I certainly would miss it if I could not get out here and hunt some good wild ginseng this fall.
Kind of a shame to sell it on a declining market. Being out there,
close to nature. We can still enjoy that, but maybe this season
would be a good time to do a little work for the grand kids and help save
the endangered species of American Ginseng.
The "Wild" Simulated woods grown we will be
Trading @ $30.00 a pound green weight. It is an accepted rule of thumb for fast figuring at 4 to
1 green to dried weight. That would be 120 dollars a pound dried weight for wild
simulated ginseng roots. We’re trading @ $60 dollars a pound for true
"Wild" Ginseng. You can tell the difference between wild and wild
simulated, by the fact that the true "Wild" ginseng roots, will be various
ages, everywhere from 5 years, which is the absolute minimum that we will
buy, to 45, 50, 60 year old plants. The wild simulated will pretty much be about all the same age.
Just weigh your ginseng roots and convert to dollars and cents. You can apply that to
"any" purchase of our ginseng seeds or ginseng kits. You give
us a call and let us know how much you are shipping.
Harvest these roots carefully , broken stems are not suitable for
repropagation (replanting). Wash them off with the hose, put them in a baggie with some peat moss or potting soil.
Peat moss is much preferred. We have many state regulations regarding shipment of roots with soil.
Wash them off lightly with a hose, do not scrub them. Pack them in some peat moss,
weigh them up and ship them to me. Include a note in there with your name , address,
and your weight. We are not going to quibble, I have found that ginsengers
are good honest people to work with. We will send you down your
seed order promptly as soon as we receive your Roots
This Federal moratorium thing, has a bearing on the
ginseng market, this is a part of what we’re trying to do here at Glacial Ginseng Company.
By trading our
"Glacial Gold"™
Ginseng Seeds for "Wild" and "Wild" Simulated ginseng roots.
We’re still going to need a Certificate of Origin, usually
gotten from your Dept of Agriculture, just like you would if we were going to
sell them to the export market.
We want to make sure that we put an emphasis on these Certificates of Origin. So that our government officials can under stand that we’re doing some humanitarian work here to save this endangered species, and it’s a good season to do it.
When your getting your Certificate of Origin for your
state, be sure to point out that these plants are being moved for
repropagation, because that won’t go against the export quota that they have set of 70,000 pounds.
We here at Glacial Ginseng Co. sell more than the equivalent of that in
seeds each season and our 700 plus growers are growing a hair bit more
than that out there in the woods.
As some of you may have already noticed, there is a shortage of ginseng seeds on the market this season. A couple of the factors that are involved,
couple of very large individuals bought very large blocks of seeds this summer.
They are going into the commercial aspect of growing the wild simulated ginseng in the
woods, on a very large scale. They got some of my seeds and the price has been escalating up.
I’ve even seen ginseng seeds on Internet at over a hundred dollars a pound, and they are talking about single strain seeds.
If you’ve read any of my work, that’s sort of like a farmer planting his same corn year after year.
We bought early, when there was a good supply, from our own growers and we bought a little extra too.

The "Ginseng Growers
Guide" Contains Many Helpful Tips, about Site
Preparation and Planting Woods
Grown Ginseng by Hand.
"Growers Tips" From The "Ginseng
Growers Guide"
Undergrowth needs to be cleared to improve
air circulation, to reduce competition and to allow room to till .
Weeds need to be eliminated. A herbicide should be
sprayed on your site about four weeks prior to planting.
Round-Up works good here. As part of your site preparation
you should consider the balance of light in the woods. If
you are going to utilize the woods, you need a good forestry
program.
About ninety percent of the woods that I
have walked into, I could go over to the east side and I could
find a place in there that with a minimal amount of work would
be a good site for an initial seed bed. Those plants would then
be up and growing for you, leaving time to balance your woods,
work on the programs, etc.
