A "NEWER CONCEPT"- Balancing - The
Humanitarians
Choice.

Keeping in mind, if and when you are considering trying "Glacial Gold" Ginseng Co.
"New Concept" of blending 3 yr. old Roots with our "Glacial
Gold" Ginseng Seeds --- We and
you, are, and will be balancing our forests in the process!!! You will be taking
- where and when needed - older mature trees at prime time, to give growing
space to the new and younger generation of trees. Selecting only what
should be harvested at present, to give the correct conditions for your ginseng
crop. Also, keep in mind, Woods Grown Ginseng far out surpasses field cultivated
ginseng in value and ginsitis levels.
By harvesting your mature trees, purchasing and
planting 3yr. old "Glacial Gold" Ginseng seeds and roots.
This is a means of no money out of your pocket now -- and will start bringing
money into your pocket in the very near future. Your 3 yr. old Glacial Gold
Roots will produce a good seed crop the next fall. The "Glacial
Gold" Ginseng Seeds will start producing a seed crop of top notch
seeds in 4 yrs. Leaving your forest as is, will do nothing and can
stunt the growth of your young trees.
PLUS - You will have a balanced forest WITH a ginseng crop of a higher
value then the trees you removed for your initial investment!!! Now - I
believe that isn't only smart - It is investing common sense for our next
generation and for generations to come!!! Also remember, you will have a
yearly seed crop. I wish all forest were so lucky, as to have owners like
you, setting the example! Balancing our forest simply makes good sense and
you are THE answer to saving an endanger species of not only ginseng, but
of our great forests. If we don't take care of our forests, who
will??
You are our HOPE for generations to come, by becoming a part of the solution. We all need more humanitarians like YOU!!! THANKS!!!!
Choices
by Mary Hite;
We all have the choice of positive or negative.
When I'm positive, I achieve.
When I'm negative, I stand still.
I can choose to talk or to listen.
When I talk, I can't hear.
When I listen, I sometimes learn.
I can be rude and intrude or
I can be Loving, understanding,
Patiently caring and Sharing.
I can choose to be stubborn or
Learn to Give and take.
I can try to be humble
for I've made many mistakes.
I can learn to be brave
But also remember
It's how I behave that really matters.

"Fast" Personal Service,
Growers Tip's Mice, voles (field mice), moles and slugs can be a problem, they like to eat ginseng seeds and roots. During the winter, under the mulch and snow, all of the above are active. The mice like to use mole tunnels to eat ginseng roots and seeds. Slugs are active year round and given a good food supply (ginseng seeds), they multiply. Add a wet spring and they can multiply by the millions and eat a seed bed in a short period of time. Prevention is the best approach, when I sow my ginseng seed, I come right behind broad casting slug pellets generously. I like to use pellets with Mesuol in them, they seem to work the best. This will give you initial control, I strongly suggest that you build some traps that can be easily maintained year round. I use bricks, 6 bricks formed into a square, with 2 ends open and 2 bricks on top. This keeps the bait dry and family pets out of it. Commercial growers need at least 1 trap for each 2 1/2 pounds of seeds planted. Mole tunnels, a with sharp stick, poke a hole in the top and insert some mouse bait (I use De-Con). Place a survey flag beside of the trap. These metal survey flags draw static electricity during storms and this releases the nitrogen trapped in the decomposing forest floor. This helps jump start the seed germination and helps you locate the traps during the winter. Growing ginseng is a year around job. I mix slug pellets and mouse bait and fill the trap generously and often. Experience has taught me that mice and slugs would rather eat the bait then my ginseng seeds. "Deer and Turkey" Deer and Turkeys, I like to use Coyote urine, placed on cotton balls. Coyote urine is hard to find and draws coyotes. Human urine works and a combination of the two is very effective. So, if you want to scare the crap out of the deer and dump your turkey problems, do it up wind of your patch. "Ginseng

"Glacial Gold"
American Ginseng Seed and Root Kits From $19.95 Undergrowth needs to be cleared to improve air circulation, to reduce competition and to allow room to till . Weeds need to be eliminated. A herbicide should be sprayed on your site about four weeks prior to planting. Round-Up works good here. As part of your site preparation you should consider the balance of light in the woods. If you are going to utilize the woods, you need a good forestry program. About ninety percent of the woods that I
have walked into, I could go over to the east side and I could
find a place in there that with a minimal amount of work would
be a good site for an initial seed bed. Those plants would then
be up and growing for you, leaving time to balance your woods,
work on soil and lighting requirements, etc. |
